Job Overview
We are seeking an innovative Test Software Engineer in Taiwan for our memory business to bridge the gap between complex engineering design and high-volume mass production by developing robust software tools and APIs for rigorous product testing.
Your core focus will be translating Windows-centric, expert-level vendor Mass Production Tools (MPTools) into safe, error-proof counterparts optimized for our Linux-based production floor and non-expert operators. To accelerate this critical cross-platform development, you will heavily leverage modern AI-assisted coding workflows (such as Cursor) to efficiently build the sophisticated testing ecosystems that ensure our manufacturing quality and streamline production.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy comprehensive, production-level software tools and frameworks to ensure the proper testing, validation, and quality control of products on the manufacturing floor.
- Write and maintain robust APIs that enable seamless interaction between our Linux-based Production testers and the controller manufacturers' standalone (often Windows-based) MPTools.
- Translate complex, engineering-focused workflows and MPTools into safe, streamlined applications with built-in checks and balances suitable for non-expert production floor operators.
- Bridge the operating system divide by adapting, communicating with, or porting functionality from Windows-based vendor engineering tools into a highly efficient Linux mass production ecosystem.
- Utilize AI coding assistants (e.g., Cursor) to rapidly develop, debug, and optimize software counterparts to Engineering MPTools, ensuring high efficiency and code quality.
- Implement and troubleshoot communications using SATA and NVMe protocols, including the handling of Vendor Unique Commands.
- Work closely with both the Engineering and Production teams to understand the nuanced differences between engineering requirements (flexibility, deep diagnostics) and production requirements (stability, speed, error-proofing, operator simplicity).
- Willingness to travel occasionally to customer sites and industry events as needed
Qualifications
- Deep understanding of Windows vs. Linux environments. Must be highly capable of navigating the architectural and operational differences to successfully integrate Windows-developed vendor tools into a Linux production infrastructure.
- Strong proficiency in Python, C, and Bash scripting for full-stack tool creation and automation.
- Deep technical knowledge of SATA and NVMe protocols.
- A solid, practical understanding of the strict differences between Engineering and Production environments, particularly regarding user safety, error handling, system uptime, and operational simplicity.
- Familiarity with UI/UX principles for manufacturing execution systems (MES) or operator dashboards.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with strong English verbal and written communication capabilities. You must be able to clearly articulate technical concepts to both local and international teams.
Mandatory Requirements
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in DRAM module burn-in, stress testing, and failure analysis.
- Experience working with Vendor Unique Commands and mass production tools for storage controllers.
- Demonstrated experience or strong willingness to use AI-assisted coding tools (like Cursor, Codex) to accelerate the software development lifecycle.
- Previous experience in SSD or storage manufacturing test environments, specifically building tools from scratch.
