Requisition ID:  1515
Location:

US

Brand:  Penguin Solutions

Overview

Penguin Solutions is seeking an innovative and strategic Product Manager to define and drive the evolution of our Edge Computing portfolio, including Stratus Technologies’ ztC Edge, ztC Endurance, everRun, and ftServer platforms. This role will be central in developing our Edge AI strategy and shaping next-generation hardware and software solutions that power intelligent, continuously available infrastructure at the edge.

As Edge computing and AI workloads grow exponentially across industrial sectors, this leader will define holistic product strategies spanning fleet orchestration, predictive fault tolerance, containerized workload packaging (e.g., Kubernetes), and scalable edge systems. You will partner cross-functionally to evolve our high-availability platforms for Industry 4.0, enabling secure, zero-touch deployment and lifecycle automation from the data center to the far edge.

Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Vision

  • Define the multi-year vision and roadmap for the Stratus edge portfolio with a focus on AI integration, zero-touch deployment, and high-availability infrastructure.

  • Lead development of hardware/software product strategies including Kubernetes solution packaging, fleet and lifecycle management, and edge security hardening.

  • Analyze competitive positioning and market shifts (e.g., Edge AI server adoption, OT/IT convergence) to inform platform investments.

Portfolio & Platform Management

  • Oversee the evolution of products like ztC Edge and ztC Endurance to support container-native workloads, AI inferencing engines, and industrial protocols.

  • Align edge compute solutions with the capabilities of legacy systems (e.g., ftServer, everRun) to offer hybrid transition paths.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, sales, support) to ensure roadmap execution and platform coherence.

Customer & Market Engagement

  • Gather customer and partner feedback to refine solution-level packaging and reference architectures for verticals like manufacturing, energy, life sciences, and retail.

  • Serve as the domain evangelist for Edge AI, representing Penguin Solutions in analyst briefings, industry forums, and customer workshops.

AI Enablement & Innovation

  • Integrate AI-driven features such as predictive failure analysis, intelligent orchestration, and autonomous fault remediation.

  • Define reference use cases and success metrics for deploying AI at the edge (e.g., SCADA optimization, process automation, remote asset monitoring).

Lifecycle & Ecosystem Strategy

  • Drive ecosystem integration with technology partners (e.g., NVIDIA, Red Hat, AWS Greengrass, Kubernetes vendors).

  • Shape solution packaging and pricing to align with Edge AI forecast trends and customer buying behavior.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. MBA or equivalent strategic background preferred.

  • 7+ years of experience in product management or solutions architecture in infrastructure, embedded systems, or industrial software domains.

  • Strong background in edge computing, high-availability infrastructure, or real-time control systems.

  • Experience with virtualization (KVM, VMware, Hyper-V), container technologies (Kubernetes, Docker), and industrial protocol stacks (OPC UA, Modbus, SNMP).

  • Familiarity with hardware platforms used in rugged edge environments and industrial IT/OT systems integration.

  • Proven track record of managing cross-functional teams and launching successful products in complex, mission-critical environments.
