Brand:  Penguin Solutions

Role Overview

Penguin Solutions is seeking a visionary Network Product Architect to lead the evolution of advanced AI and HPC networking platforms. This highly technical role sits at the intersection of product innovation and engineering execution, shaping next-generation infrastructure that powers distributed training, high-throughput inference, and mission-critical AI systems.

As part of the Product Management team, you will define scalable networking architectures that blend Ethernet, InfiniBand, and software-defined networking (SDN) into intelligent, low-latency platforms. You will partner with Engineering, Sales, and Strategic Accounts to validate concepts, build reference designs, and scale innovations across centralized and edge deployments. This role is pivotal to our strategy of delivering modular, resilient, and performance-optimized solutions across diverse AI ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Strategy and Architecture

  • Serve as the architectural lead for Ethernet, InfiniBand, and SDN features across AI/HPC platforms.

  • Shape network designs involving RDMA, RoCE, NVLink/IB integration, congestion control, and telemetry to optimize distributed AI performance.

  • Assess and model topologies such as Fat-tree, Dragonfly, and Clos across on-prem, hybrid, and cloud-native environments.

  • Integrate network resiliency strategies for high-availability training clusters and real-time AI workloads.

Strategic Customer Enablement

  • Engage in customer discovery, proof-of-concept design, and architecture reviews for complex AI/HPC deployments.

  • Provide pre-sales technical validation, performance benchmarking, and integration blueprints that accelerate solution adoption.

  • Channel field insights and market trends into forward-looking product requirements and platform evolution.

Architectural Asset Development

  • Create and maintain a portfolio of scalable blueprints, configuration guides, integration playbooks, and performance models.

  • Collaborate on intelligent orchestration patterns using Scyld ClusterWare, distributed training frameworks (Horovod, DeepSpeed), and high-performance storage.

  • Contribute to the evolution of our ICE ClusterWare™ and AIM service frameworks for enhanced networking observability and automation.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Represent the Product Management team in technical engagements with Engineering, ensuring system-level feasibility and roadmap coherence.

  • Align with partners such as NVIDIA, AMD, Arista, RedHat, and Mellanox to co-validate interoperability and contribute to joint solution development.

  • Facilitate seamless integration between infrastructure hardware and workload orchestration pipelines.

Required Qualifications

Technical Expertise

  • 8+ years in high-speed networking design for HPC, AI, or cloud infrastructure—deep familiarity with Ethernet, InfiniBand, or SDN.

  • Proven experience with L2/L3 protocols, QoS, PTP time sync, link aggregation, and secure transport layers (TLS/IPSec).

  • Hands-on understanding of distributed AI workloads and schedulers like Slurm or PBS in GPU-dense environments.

  • Proficient in RoCEv2, RDMA, NIC offloads, and in-network compute paradigms for frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.

  • Experience with programmable fabrics (SONiC, P4), overlay networks, and telemetry tooling (e.g., Telegraf, Grafana).

Strategic and Soft Skills

  • Strong ability to translate complex architecture decisions into actionable insights across product, sales, and engineering.

  • Effective communicator with a collaborative mindset and a bias toward alignment and delivery.

  • Comfortable working in ambiguity and leading cross-functional initiatives across global teams.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science (Master’s or PhD preferred).
