Overview 

The Senior Accountant participates in the accounting close process and provides cross functional business support as well as technical expertise. As a Senior Accountant, you will also have the opportunity to shape and redefine future processes and improvements.

 

As a Finance team member, you will develop broad-based business knowledge and leadership experience while establishing a strong technical foundation. Lead the monthly and quarterly close processes, including review and preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead monthly and quarterly close processes, including review and preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Perform financial analysis and variance analysis to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement
  • Support dynamic business needs impacting accounting close, working cross functionally with business partners to identify solutions for ad-hoc technical issues requiring accounting guidance as well as to provide project leadership to drive business solutions
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations (e.g., GAAP)
  • Provide technical accounting support (US GAAP accounting guidance) to the business unit partners, including research and recommendations on accounting issues, as well as implementation of accounting and policy changes
  • Provide support to internal and external audit activities including preparation and review of audit schedules as needed
  • Responsible for monitoring and adhering to the business unit’s revenue recognition processes and policies, including the calculation of sales reserve
  • Follow and monitor internal controls to ensure accounting activities are in accordance with established legal, regulatory and company policies and procedures
  • Provide direct assistance to the Controller on the preparation of the business unit financial reporting package and related deliverables
  • Drive process improvements by identifying and executing changes to be more effective and efficient including leveraging data and technology to unlock value
  • Other ad hoc requests, such as documentation of key transactions through technical accounting memorandums and other projects to support accounting team or business unit
  • Support special project work as needed, including identification and execution of continuous improvement projects and activities

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA designation
  • Public accounting experience
  • Manufacturing industry experience
  • 5+ years of experience in general ledger accounting and financial reporting
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
  • Solid knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting standards, accounting policies and financial statements and research skills
  • Attention to detail, strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to influence and lead cross-functional projects
  • Advanced MS Excel skills

Compensation & Benefits

The base pay range that the Company reasonably expects to pay for this position in California is $98,000 - $115,000; the pay ultimately offered may vary based on business considerations, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education. The position is bonus-eligible, and there are medical, dental, and vision benefits available. There is a 401k saving plan and other benefits, such as Paid Time Off, Life Insurance, and an Employee Assistance Plan.
