Cree LED currently has an open position for a Process Technician within our Reliability and Characterization Lab at our Durham, NC headquarters and is looking for enthusiastic, hands-on candidates to join our exciting, fast-paced company. In this position, you will be working in our ISO:17025 LED Components Reliability and Characterization lab and will be responsible for executing the variety of electrical and optical testing necessary to enable our success.
*This position is for a 12 hour FE Day shift. * (6AM-6PM Sunday-Tuesday and E/O Wednesday)
Responsibilities
- Learn and perform tasks related to the mechanical assembly, optical and electrical testing, and characterization of LEDs.
- Execute electrical, mechanical and photonic experiments according to written procedures to aid product development team in next generation packaged LED solutions.
- Collect data, analyze results, and issue recommendations.
- Understand the complete process flow for reliability testing and understand the impact of failures to follow procedures
- Maintain our ISO:17025 Lab accreditation by ensuring quality and procedural compliance.
- Provide support to team members to investigate/resolve process issues and suggest solutions to prevent future occurrence
- Support equipment engineering on tool troubleshooting and preventative maintenance.

- Summarize and communicate findings accurately
- May be required to handle hazardous waste
Qualifications
- AA in a technical field, or equivalent experience and HS diploma
- Must be able to work in a clean room environment
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with strong interpersonal skills.
- Able to follow detailed verbal and written work instructions
- Positive, whatever it takes’ attitude and demonstrated high level of dependability
- Flexible work schedule and the ability to work overtime on short notice
- Able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Must have excellent hand-eye coordination, hand dexterity, and attention to detail
Location
This role requires on-site work at our Durham, N.C. campus. The company is unable to provide relocation assistance for this role.

Compensation & Benefits
The pay range that the Company reasonably expects to pay for this position in Durham, NC is $19-21; the pay ultimately offered within the expected range may vary based on business considerations, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education. The position is bonus-eligible, and there are medical, dental, and vision benefits available. There is a 401k saving plan and other benefits, such as Paid Time Off, Life Insurance, and an Employee Assistance Plan.
