Overview

You will work with a team of scientists, engineers, and technicians to maintain, troubleshoot and develop tools to support the manufacturing of LED-based lighting products. The successful candidate will be a resourceful, hands-on, problem solver with the capacity to quickly grasp and resolve a wide range of technical problems that are mechanical and electrical in nature.  With minimal supervision, you will also be required to assess daily support requests and prioritize accordingly with a focus on customer satisfaction and the needs of production teams.

 

Responsibilities

  • Use prescribed PPE in prescribed manner
  • Follow all Cree LED safety policies including those specified in documented activities
  • Works with manufacturing, process engineering, warehousing, and environmental health and safety on the installation, maintenance, calibration, recordkeeping, and operating parameters of equipment
  • Performs electro-mechanical root cause troubleshooting of semiconductor manufacturing equipment
  • Performs a high degree of problem identification and troubleshooting with minimal supervision and participates effectively in a team environment
  • Disassembles, repairs, and reassembles equipment according to operating manuals, schematics, blueprints, etc.
  • Uses test and diagnostic equipment to perform equipment checks
  • Reviews, edits, and authors standard maintenance procedures
  • Uses Brightly Essentials maintenance software to process work orders, track repairs, and maintain spares inventory
  • Uses corporate enterprise software, SAP, to initiate and track purchase requests, purchase orders, and confirmations
  • Modifies equipment to improve up-time or overall process performance
  • Performs routine preventive maintenance on tools in accordance with equipment specifications and company policies and procedures
  • Assists EHS (Environmental Health & Safety), Warehouse, and Production teams as needed
  • This role may require additional duties and/or assignments as designated by management

 

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a relevant role
  • AAS in Electronics Technology OR military electronics equivalent experience OR equivalent work experience in manufacturing, electrical, mechanical, or maintenance in a manufacturing setting
  • Proficient use of technology to include Microsoft Office suite
  • Must be able to regularly lift 20 pounds and occasionally lift up to 65 pounds
  • Understand this is a support role which prioritizes customer service and adapting to changing priorities daily
  • Must be able to complete company-provided RCRA, DOT, and HAZWOPER training within 45-days of hire
  • Must be able to pass medical clearance to wear respiratory protection
  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE, and work around hazardous materials
  • Able to read and interpret instructions, schematics, and maintenance manuals
  • May be required to stretch, bend or kneel for periods of time
  • Strong work ethic and self-starter.  Able to perform assigned tasks with little direction/supervision and make appropriate judgements to assess daily priorities
  • Strong sense of ownership in work performed and ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Willing to work on the Emergency Response Team
  • Willing to be cross trained in EHS, Warehouse, or other responsibilities as needed
  • Willing to work overtime occasionally, as needed

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of vacuum and gas delivery systems 
  • Experience working with and around industrial chemicals
  • Experience with Brightly Essentials software
  • Experience in submitting purchase requisitions in SAP

 

Location

This is an on-site position at our Durham, North Carolina facility.

 

Travel

Travel will be required 0-10% of the time.

 

Compensation & Benefits

The pay range that the Company reasonably expects to pay for this position in Durham, NC is $25-28; the pay ultimately offered within the expected range may vary based on business considerations, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education. The position is bonus-eligible, and there are medical, dental, and vision benefits available. There is a 401k saving plan and other benefits, such as Paid Time Off, Life Insurance, and an Employee Assistance Plan.
